Sunrise is the classic time to watch and fish Blamel Pool, especially if you want to see large salmon roll. Evening can be just as memorable, with softer light and calmer banks.
After a fresh rise, or when fish are moving, give the pool proper time. This is not water to rush through in a few hopeful casts.

Zone 4 is favourable at all water levels. In higher water, salmon find softer holding places along the edges and deeper structure. In lower water, the pool still offers depth and security.
Adjust the presentation to the river rather than changing the plan too quickly. The pool has proven itself in both high and low water, but it asks for careful reading.

Fish Blamel Pool with discipline from the top down. Start with the close water, then lengthen the cast gradually so the fly covers the pool without disturbing the best lies too early.
Use a controlled swing and keep contact through the slow, heavy parts of the drift. When a big fish takes here, calm pressure and good footing matter as much as the cast.

The key holding water is around the main body of the pool, the softer edges, and the places where current slows enough for salmon to rest without leaving oxygenated water.
Ivar tells of a particular rock in the river where a visiting Swedish angler was told to pay extra attention. That rock produced the fish, and it remains part of the pool’s living history.

Cover the pool in clean, repeated passes. Change angle before changing everything else, and let the fly fish all the way through the swing before stepping down.
In high water, concentrate on softer margins and protected lies. In low water, reduce disturbance and fish with more finesse, especially in the clear parts of the pool.

This is true big salmon water. Several fish in the twenty kilo class have been seen in Blamel Pool, and many of the largest salmon in the Verdal River have been connected to this stretch.
The pool can give you the fish of a lifetime, but it can also test everything: tackle, patience, movement and nerve.

Fish only within the permitted lodge water and follow the river rules for the season. Give other anglers space, rotate respectfully and do not crowd the key lies.
Wading should be conservative, especially in changing water. Large salmon are not worth unsafe footing.

Zone 4 has excellent practical comfort for a serious fishing day. You can spend time in the timber cabin by the shore, light an evening fire by the gapahuk, and stay close enough to watch the pool properly.
